What shape is your face? Have a look in the mirror, hold back your hair if need be, and study the shape. Generally people's faces can be a combination of different shapes. So use this information only as a guide, not as a rule.
It does help to have an understanding of what is likely to best flatter your face. This guide will help you to choose the right sunglasses styles and frames that’ll suit your face shape.
ROUND SHAPED FACE

A round face is fairly short with a wide forehead, often with full cheeks and a rounded chin.
If you have a lovely round shaped face –you might want to look for styles that have double brow bars, thick frames or frames that are either equal to the width of your face or a little wider. Also, styles with decorative details on the temples will suit round shaped faces.
Contrasting frames such as square or rectangular lenses will also give you face structure and definition. Make your face appear thinner by choosing a clear bridge over the nose, which widens the eyes. Go for a narrow frame which lengthens the face.
AVOID: Small and round shapes and very large frames which will make your face look rounder.
HEART SHAPED FACE

A heart-Shaped face has a broad forehead, tapering to a small neat chin and mouth.
If yours is heart shaped and you have high cheek bones – light coloured or rimless frames will look great. And remember aviators or angular shapes like these will balance out a smaller chin. Choose smaller styles without decorative detail on the temples.
AVOID: Styles which are wider at the top; these will reflect the face shape rather than balance it.
SQUARE SHAPED FACE

Square face has a broad, deep forehead, widejaw line and square chin.
If you have a square face – stay away from square frames and reduce those hard angles by choosing round style frames or soft gently curved oval shaped frames in contrast to the face.
These need to sit high enough, to minimize/soften the jaw line. Another alternative is a narrow frame, one that has more width than depth, to widen the eye area.
AVOID: Thin, angular and square styles, and those with colour emphasis on the bottom rim.
OVAL SHAPED FACE

An oval face is well balanced and softly rounded; the forehead is slightly wider than the jaw, which curves gently, and the cheekbones are high.
An oval face looks good in most styles, however it is advisable to look for frames which are wider (or as wide as) the broadest part of your face. Still you can definitely pull off anything from circular shades, shields, aviators and square frames and you really can go for the oversized look! Also, don’t think about frame thickness too much because whether they be thin or thick, they should look fine.
AVOID: Styles that are uncomfortable to wear or that you feel do not suit your face.
OBLONG SHAPED FACE

Oblong faces are long and narrow, with long straight cheek lines and a deep forehead.
You can balance the face's narrowness with the right frame style. You need to play down the length by choosing frames which cover the center of the face. Select frames which have the effect of shorting your face– a deep frame with embellishments or decorations that will detract from your long cheeks and jaw line.
Round or square frames are the best way to go for you, which is great because you’ll be able to be diverse with your choices. You probably want to make sure that they aren’t wider than your face. You can dress it up a bit by getting sunglasses with cool detailing, studs or fancy designs.
AVOID: Small, square shapes.
TRIANGULAR SHAPED FACE

This type of face shape has a comparatively narrow forehead and eye line, broadening to the jaw line.
You want a frame which widens the top part of your face, and narrows the chin. Brightly colored sunnies with lots of detailing can be a distraction from your lower facial area, and wide, cat-eye-styles will give the illusion of broadening your forehead and eyes. Try bold styles as they will add balance to the face.
AVOID: Small Narrow frames.
INVERTED-TRIANGLE SHAPED FACE
Inverted triangle shaped faces are with a narrow forehead and wide chin.
Contrast your shape by wearing thin-rimmed frames which don’t sit high on your face. This is one instance where oversized sunglasses can make you face appear even wider, but if you still have the confidence to carry them off, then go for it!
Remember; Do what you feels right for you, these are just some useful tips to keep in mind.
